In the past year there have been numerous violent random attacks on the TTC predominantly against women with many resulting in death. Although attacks against women on the TTC are nothing new they have recently become more frequent and more violent. 

Based on a 2017 survey, 57.8% of TTC riders are female and although they represent TTC’s largest customer demographic there has been no safeguards put in place to protect and increase the safety of its riders evident by the continued violence against their female patrons. 

In addition, there has been no pressure from the city of Toronto, Mayor John Tory, or Toronto Police placed on the TTC to protect their female riders and make their service safer. 

Another random attack against women feels absolutely certain if we don’t demand the TTC to take accountability and action.
