Since 1994, Playstation has dominated the gaming world and has been a fan favorite console. This gaming powerhouse has consistently delivered top-notch performance, stunning graphics, and unique properties that have made it a beloved part of the gaming industry. However, one area where Playstation lags behind is in its limited backwards compatibility. Unlike Xbox, which offers backwards compatibility with all previous consoles, Playstation systems only offer this feature with their immediate predecessor.

This petition aims to change that for the upcoming Playstation 6. It's crucial for Sony to consider making PS6 backwards compatible as far back as possible. Hopefully at least to the Playstation 2. This would not only enhance user experience but also preserve older games that hold sentimental value for many players. That and we wouldn't have to buy older consoles 

According to a survey by GameSpot in 2020, approximately 70% of gamers considered backwards compatibility an important feature when buying a new console (GameSpot). By ignoring this demand, Sony risks alienating a significant portion of their customer base.

It may be too late to make changes to the PS5's backward compatibility capabilities now; however, there is still time for Sony to implement extensive backward compatibility into their next console, the PS6.
