Every week this football season, offensive linemen put defenders flat on their backs.

That is a pancake block.

It does not count. No box score, no stat sheet, no record book, no career total.

It should.

Sacks are official. Tackles are official. Pass breakups, rushing, passing and penalty yards all get a column. Pancakes get nothing.

So we are asking football to recognize the pancake block as an official statistic. Every league. Every level. Pros, college, high school, youth, even the video games. Put it on the stat sheet.

Cracker Barrel and some of the best offensive linemen in America wrote it down. A signed, official definition of the pancake block, ready for anybody to adopt.

A pancake block is imposing your will on an opponent by driving him off his feet and putting him flat on the ground.

Now it's time for football to make it official.
