Make the Last Saturday of October the Official Date for Halloween celebrating 2025

The Issue

Many of us have fond memories of preparing spooktacular Halloween exhibits in our yards and watching neighborhood kids participate actively in trick-or-treating. It's a joyful spectacle that brings a unique charm to our community. Yet, the challenge comes when everyone - kids and adults alike - has to get up early and return to school or work the next morning.

Given this, we are appealing to the U.S. Congress to declare the last Saturday of October as the official date for Halloween, starting in 2025. This simple change will not only enhance our Halloween festivities but also cause less disruption to our daily schedules, without the stress of the "morning after".

Currently, Halloween is celebrated on October 31st, regardless of the day of the week. As per the National Confectioners Association, 76 percent of Americans believe Halloween is more fun on a weekend. Additionally, according to a survey by Care.com, 52 percent of parents say they would enjoy Halloween activities more if it fell on a Saturday.

We believe the shift will improve the overall experience for families, students, working adults, and the elderly alike, removing the rush and exhaustion that accompany a school or work day following an evening of trick-or-treating.

Join us in calling for a holiday that better serves the joy and spirit of Halloween. Sign this petition and help change the date of Halloween to the last Saturday of October from 2025 onwards.
