Make the Full Olivier Awards Ceremony Accessible to Audiences in the UK, USA and Canada

The Issue

My journey as a musical theatre student in the UK has been filled with passion and dedication. Every year, I eagerly anticipate the Olivier Awards ceremony - a celebration of theatrical talent that inspires me immensely. However, my excitement is always tinged with disappointment as this prestigious event is not broadcasted or live-streamed in our country, unlike other parts of the world.

The Olivier Awards are an integral part of our cultural landscape. They honour outstanding achievements in London theatre and serve as a beacon for aspiring performers like myself. Yet, fans from three major English-speaking regions - UK, USA and Canada - are deprived of witnessing this spectacle.

With over 32 million people attending theatre performances annually in these regions combined (source: Broadway League; Society of London Theatre), it's clear that there's a significant audience eager to experience this event. By making the full ceremony available for viewing in these countries, we can foster greater appreciation for theatre arts and provide much-needed inspiration to budding performers.

We urge those responsible for broadcasting the Olivier Awards to consider our plea seriously. Let us join together as an international community celebrating theatrical excellence by making this ceremony accessible to all who value it. Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves access to inspiring events like these.
