Make the Albuquerque Bio-park relocate the elephants to a suitable sanctuary

The Issue

Can you imagine spending your whole life and raising your family in a bathroom? You would become mentally ill and have no quality of life. A member from an animal protection group said the space these elephants are living in, at the ABQ Biopark is the equivalent of us living our entire lives in a bathroom.  The animal rights group activist said that they need to be relocated to a proper sanctuary with suitable space for elephants.

The elephants at the Albuquerque bio park zoo are getting diseases and dying from stress, because their habitat is too small. KRQE channel 13 news featured this story tonight (3-29-22) and it made me cry to watch the video of the elephants pacing and standing in place, (which are signs of stress). If you’ve ever had anxiety and panic attacks or depression, you can relate.

Please sign this petition to help the remaining elephants be relocated to a proper and humane elephant sanctuary and to make the ABQ Biopark close it’s elephant exhibit until they can raise its standards, before it’s too late. Two of the elephants raised in the ABQ bio park came down with a deadly disease and died from it, that was likely brought on by stress.  “They have no business to be in zoos at all,” said the activist in the KRQE News feature, and also said they are too close to a high traffic road, also causing more stress.  Let’s do what we can to save these beautiful, intelligent elephants, and get them into a sanctuary as soon as possible!
