Make Stillfront Sell BitLife to a New Owner Who Actually Cares About the Players
The Issue
The players of BitLife: Life Simulator, are asking Stillfront Group AB, the company that owns Candywriter, to sell BitLife (or Candywriter itself) to a new owner who will treat players fairly and respect the community that built this game.
Over the years, BitLife has turned from a fun, creative life simulator into a money pit that constantly locks more and more content behind paywalls. The company’s greed is obvious, and it’s hurting the game and its loyal fanbase.
What We Want
- Start the process of selling BitLife or Candywriter to a company that values players instead of squeezing them for every dollar.
- Stop adding new paywalls or raising prices until a clear and fair monetization policy is released.
- Keep the promises made to early supporters. If players were told their purchases (like Boss Mode or job packs) covered future updates, that should be honored permanently.
- Fix the broken restore-purchase system so people don’t lose what they paid for when they switch devices or platforms.
Why This Matters
The BitLife community has been vocal for years about how the game has become aggressively monetized. The company keeps moving the goalposts and hiding basic features behind new payments.
Players were told in a Candywriter post that those who bought before March 31, 2020 would get Boss Mode and job packs, but later updates added “expansion packs” that cost even more. It feels dishonest and exploitative.
Here are a few examples from the community:
“It’s BS that they still charge you even after buying Boss Mode.”
“I used to have everything unlocked until I got a new phone, now it’s all gone.”
“I bought all the bundles but I no longer have access to most of it.”
“The devs are so money hungry now, they don’t care about the fans anymore.”
“What was the point of buying Boss Mode if every new thing is another paid pack?”
These aren’t isolated complaints. There are entire Reddit threads full of frustrated players who feel ripped off and ignored.
Stillfront bought Candywriter in 2020 and tied the deal to future performance goals, which likely pushed Candywriter to chase short-term profits instead of making a better game. That’s why BitLife keeps getting worse for the players who once loved it.
