As someone deeply passionate about our great country and its values, I believe it's time we officially recognize St. George's Day as a national holiday. St. George, our patron saint, symbolizes courage and honor - values that are deeply ingrained in our national identity.

St. George’s Day is celebrated on April 23rd every year, marking the death of Saint George who is the patron saint of England (source: Historic UK). Despite this significance, unlike other countries that celebrate their patron saints with public holidays such as Ireland with St Patrick’s day (source: Gov.ie), England does not officially observe this day as a public holiday.

Making St. Georges Day a national holiday would provide an opportunity for us to reflect on our history and values while celebrating what makes us uniquely British.
