This year, at Shrewsbury High School in Shrewsbury, MA, the physical education rubric was changed to a 10 point scale, where the last point is an “exemplary” point. This is awarded to students that do something “above and beyond” - the problem is, it’s not specified what we have to do to earn this point (even the gym teachers don’t know). Essentially, for the majority of the class, the average quarter and semester grade is a 9/10, or an A-. This greatly decreases your GPA, something crucial to getting into top colleges these days.

Our demand is simple. Change gym back to participation, or pass/fail.
