This passed weekend a teenager went missing in the rotary park pond in whitecourt albertt, he went for a nice day with his family and never surfaced from the pond. This is not the first time someone has drowned there.

This petition is to maybe get the towns attention. There needs to be more signage and a designated swimming area. There should be a life guard even if its a volunteer. There should be fines in place for those who choose to swim in the unsafe area.

There is a fountain that creates an undertow that should be OFF LIMITS  in general!! 

I have lived in this town for 4 years and 2 or 3 people have lost their lives in that pond! That's to many!

Something NEEDS TO BE DONE!! It's a VERY busy park in the summer! People travel from all over the province to enjoy our rotary park! The town does not need a death trap! We need a safe place for the families to play!

Maybe if enough people sign the rotary foundation/town/province or whoever maintains this area will open their eyes and do something.

No one should be losing a child while out having fun!!
