Make Ronkonkoma’s Rosevale/Ocean Avenue intersection safe!

Make Ronkonkoma’s Rosevale/Ocean Avenue intersection safe!
The Issue
This evening around 8:00pm, I heard the screech of tires and collisions of metal outside my window, and I immediately knew what had happened and where it took place. In another instance, last summer I heard an alarming sound while my window was open, and it was so loud that caused me to jump. I then asked my mom frantically if we needed to call 911. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. These crashes are occurring at the intersection between Ocean Avenue and Rosevale Avenue in Ronkonkoma, and they happen much more often than they should. My sister and I have had to experience this at least once every couple of months as we’ve grown up. This turn is very unsafe, and action needs to be taken now before anyone else gets hurt. This has got to stop! The residents and children of Ronkonkoma do not deserve to be awoken by a “boom” in the night, nor do the victims of these violent and damaging accidents. My name is Elizabeth Smith, I am the President of the Class of 2026 at Connetquot Highschool. I am asking for my neighbors to join me in expressing our concern and standing with me to show support for a traffic study. I am asking for a traffic study to be conducted, and for a light up traffic sign directing drivers that can be seen clearly, even at night.
