The issue

Imagine spending your childhood building something from the ground up, only to see it destroyed overnight. This is the reality for many young biking enthusiasts at Red Hill. Over the years, children and teenagers alike have dedicated countless hours and put immense effort into creating jumps and trails that not only challenge their skills but also foster a sense of community and accomplishment.

Unfortunately, their hard work is being undone by local council decisions that overlook the positive impact these projects have on our young population. These jumps are not just piles of dirt; they represent months, sometimes years, of commitment and passion shared among friends and families. The thrill of freeride and downhill biking has not only kept our youth engaged in healthy outdoor activities but has also inspired a sense of resilience and dedication.

Red Hill, with its natural landscapes and existing infrastructure, holds the potential to be a premier bike park for both freeride and downhill enthusiasts. By formally recognizing and supporting these biking activities, the council can transform the area into a safe and sustainable biking hub that benefits everyone.

We propose that the council collaborates with local biking communities to develop Red Hill into a recognized bike park. This includes maintaining existing trails, building safe and environmentally friendly jumps, and installing proper signage and facilities for bikers of all levels. These actions will not only preserve the hard work of our youth but also enhance tourism and promote healthier lifestyles in the community.

It's time for the local authorities to recognize the positive impact these biking projects have on the community and work with us to establish Red Hill as a proper bike park. By signing this petition, you support a positive change for our young biking enthusiasts and take a stand for keeping outdoor recreational spaces vibrant and engaging.
