Make RateYourMusic bans fair and square

As a loyal user of RateYourMusic, it's disheartening to experience the disproportionate nature of their ban system. Many fellow users alongside myself have encountered the inexplicably long ban durations on RateYourMusic. These bans can last up to a year for minor violations, leaving us baffled and frustrated. It's as though the punishment exceeds the crime, with the measures being both harsh and inequitable.
RateYourMusic plays a significant role in our community, fostering a platform where music lovers can congregate, share, and discuss their thoughts and opinions. However, when bans are enforced that lack fairness and consistency, it not only affects individual users but the entire community. We are advocating for a more transparent, fair, and proportional system that doesn't alienate committed users due to unclear guidelines or extreme penalties.
I was genre banned once for some obvious reasons while i was just messing it around for accidentally "Abusing the genre votes" for some obvious reasons and i can't believe i forgot to read the terms and service for some obvious reasons and you've got to help me for shortening it into 48 FREAKING HOURS! that's right, i literally forgot to read the terms and service so i know all of this was just really came to an darker start to turn itself onto with it.
To make RateYourMusic a better platform for all, we propose the following solutions:
1. **Transparency in Policy:** Clearly outline violations and their respective consequences. This ensures every user understands the guidelines and the reasons behind bans.
2. **Proportionate Ban Durations:** Implement a tiered approach to penalties, where minor offenses result in warnings or short suspensions, rather than the automatic year-long bans currently in place.
3. **Appeals System:** Establish a formal process where users can appeal against bans. This would allow for re-examination of cases and reassessment of penalties in a fair and structured manner.
Data from other online platforms indicate significant disparities in moderation outcomes, often leading to community dissatisfaction. With a restructured system, RateYourMusic could ensure fairness, user satisfaction, and ongoing engagement.
