Every life deserves basic dignity, and that includes fish. Whether being marketed and sold as pets or as feeder fish, their lives matter. Yet, the mistreatment of feeder fish at PetSmart is appalling and demands urgent change. The tanks housing these fish are filthy and extremely overcrowded. They scrape survival from a single food tablet and often share their space with groups of their dead companions floating at the top. It's deplorable that these fish are tortured throughout their short lives.

Feeder fish, though often seen as utilitarian, should not be subjected to undignified conditions while they are still alive. Every fish, regardless of what we label them, should be granted a minimum standard of living. Compared to other pet fish at PetSmart, feeder fish do not receive the same basic care and attention, which is both unethical and inhumane. 

PetSmart claims to be dedicated to the care and well-being of all pets. However, their neglect of feeder fish contradicts this very principle. There is no difference between the fish in the feeder tank and the fish in the other aquariums. It's high time they implement and enforce better living conditions in feeder fish tanks. This includes providing an appropriate environment (a substrate, aquarium decor, aeration) comparable to the other tanks, maintaining a basic level of filtration and cleanliness, reducing extreme overcrowding, ensuring regular and adequate feeding of nutritious food, and the immediate removal of deceased fish from the environment. 

Join me in demanding PetSmart uphold these basic standards for feeder fish, promoting dignity for all living creatures. We bring these lives into the world and have a responsibility to do what is right for them while they are still alive!.
