MAKE PARSONS LANE ONE WAY

MAKE PARSONS LANE ONE WAY
The Issue
On July 17, 2025, we lost 16-year-old Josh Frias to a fatal accident on Parsons Lane. In honour of Josh’s memory, I am creating this petition to urge the Government to make Parsons Lane a one-way street. This road has long been recognized as dangerous. On June 22, 2019, a letter to the editor written by H. Gordy Gibbons raised serious concerns about the safety of Parsons Lane and called for it to be made one-way to prevent accidents. In 2006 – 18-year-old Ryan Burgess and 24-year-old Akil Williams both died in motorcycle accidents on this road. On August 6, 2011, 19-year-old Jahmeiko Perkins lost his life on this same stretch of road. A devastating collision on May 15, 2023, further underscored the urgency of this issue. Speed bumps are not an effective solution, as bike riders can easily fly over them. It is past time for the Government to make this change. One accident is one too many.
Josh was a bright, kind, and spirited young man whose life was tragically cut short. His loss has left an unfillable void in the hearts of our family, friends, and community. We owe it to Josh, Jahmeiko, Ryan, Akil and everyone who travels this road to take meaningful action. By making Parsons Lane a one-way street, we can honour their memories with a lasting change that prioritizes safety and saves lives.
