Make Nova Scotia Power a Public Utility!

Make Nova Scotia Power a Public Utility!
The Issue
Nova Scotia Power is out of control.
We all know about the rate hikes, estimated bills, unreliable service and poor customer support... but what's really obvious is that there is no accountability with this company.
Are our MLAs responsible? They blame the Utility and Review Board.
Is the board responsible? They claim they're just a creation of our MLAs.
Is Nova Scotia Power responsible? Well... no, they aren't, but they also aren't very good at taking accountability for their mistakes. I mean, who has the year they did and then asks for a raise?
We call on all three major parties in Nova Scotia to, in the least expensive and disruptive way possible, begin the process of nationalization IMMEDIATELY.
We're fine with it taking a few years. We're fine with any (or preferably, all!) of our political parties taking the lead on this. But we want a public power utility that's accountable to the electorate.
We want to make Nova Scotia Power a public utility!
The benefits of public utilities are many:
Lower Rates: Publicly owned utilities often offer lower commercial tariffs, sometimes even in regions without low production costs.
Customer-Focused Reliability: Because they are locally managed, they often provide faster service restoration after outages.
Non-Profit Model: Without the need to generate shareholder profit, these utilities can prioritize lower rates and reinvestment into the local grid.
Local Control and Accountability: Management is accountable to the community they serve, rather than distant investors.
Support for Public Good: They align better with community goals and provide essential services to all residents.
