Make New Hampshire "New Hampster": A Call for a State Nickname Change

The Issue

I'm a New Hampshire resident with a deep-rooted love for hamsters. Our state needs to embrace a new, adorable identity - becoming New Hampster. Making our state synonymous with these friendly creatures not only adds a touch of character and uniqueness, but it also gives us an opportunity to bring attention to hamster conservation efforts.

Hamsters are pets loved by millions of households in America, including a good majority within our state. Sadly, many species are listed as vulnerable or endangered due to habitat loss and the global pet trade. By associating New Hampshire with hamsters, we encourage awareness and responsibile practices among pet owners, traders, and breeders.

Further, the adoption of such nicknames is not unprecedented. Arkansas is known as "The Natural State", Missouri "The Show-Me State", and New York as "The Empire State". These playful identifiers promote regional emotional connections, stir curiosity, generate tourism interest, and foster ingenuity, as reported by the US Travel Association.

As the living, loving citizens of New Hampshire, let's take this step toward interweaving the identity of our beloved state with a symbol of compassion, resilience, and spirit. Sign this petition to help change our nickname and make New Hampshire the proud "New Hampster"!

Lets make this a better place to live at and bring 100000000000 hampsters to New Hampster.

New Hampshire is situated the most northern of the thirteen original states and lies between latitude 42-40 and 45-18 north and longitude 70-37 west. It is about 180 miles long and 50 miles wide, although the extreme width is 93 miles.
