Make Netflix remake Stranger Things Episode 8 - The Rightside Up
The Issue
As a devoted fan of Stranger Things, the ending of Episode 8, "The Right Side Up," has left me feeling disappointed and longing for a more satisfying conclusion to the intricate tales of Eleven and Henry Creel. Eleven's journey through pain and suffering demands a happier resolution, yet we are left with an ambiguous ending that offers no closure. The ending where Eleven is not reunited with Mike and Hopper, and her fate remains uncertain, feels unjust to her character and to us, the fans.
Eleven deserves closure. Her arduous journey has been filled with challenges and emotional turmoil. After enduring so much, she should be given a chance to escape the Upside Down and find solace with the people she loves. Seeing her safely reunited with Mike and Hopper, before the despair of the Upside Down's explosion, is the ending that would honor her resilience and growth throughout the series and with the help with her sister Kali who should’ve helped her escape, it’s her sacrifice that really brought the hot strings out as it was the love that she wanted to give 11 the life that she never had and wanted her to live in peace.
Furthermore, the character of Vecna, also known as Henry Creel, deserves a redemption arc. In the series, we witnessed the transformation of Henry Creel turn into the monster that he became when he was banished by 11 into the abyss, which was also known as Dimension X, We deserve to see like what happened with the eventual redemption of Billy Hargrove in season 3, Have him finally being redeemed and turn against his master controller which was the mind flayer team up with Will and El, powerful. Similarly, Henry Creel’s story shown in "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" depicted a character deserving of empathy, influenced by the malevolent evil particles of the Mind Flayer which transported him to Dimension X For 12 hours infecting him in the process and returning him permanently changed and giving him his powers
His demise at the hands of Will Byers snapping off his left hand, Eleven impaling him on a spike and then having Joyce Byers finish him off by cutting off his head seems hasty, rushed and dismissive of his story. Offering Henry Creel a chance of redemption, despite going down a dark path and causing destruction, This could help enrich and expand the narrative and allow viewers to engage more deeply with the show and show sympathy but he was never truly evil, and that he was made evil from being corrupted and twisted after being exposed to the mind flayer and having him understand that his nihilistic ideology was wrong and that it was never his own idea and that he was lied to by his master controller which fed him lies and troubling memories whenever he tried to fight back
The rushed ending of episode 8 left many fans feeling unsatisfied and upset , Creating a remake could fulfill many story arcs and many threads left unfinished, providing the deserved closure for Eleven and a chance for Henry Creel to be redeemed. This would not only resonate with the fans who watched the series but also with those who experienced "The First Shadow" through other formats, as their voices are vital and are crucial as we never got to see many of the backstory of Henry Creel, which was only seen in the play having that shown on Netflix on screen would help the people who never got a chance to watch it show what really happened and how he was never really evil and he tried to fight against the influence. Netflix seems to have has Lee portrayed him as being someone who refused redemption and fully embraced the evil and shared the link between the mind flayer and himself which really was not true, It’s a slap in the face to die hard fans, and to all those who watched the first shadow making the story on the play meaningless he never embraced being evil he gave up trying because he couldn’t find a way how to escape it and be free from its evil influence
we also never got a chance to see his high school crush Patty Newbie and how she encouraged him to use his powers for good instead of being evil, which is what Henry wanted, but the mind flayer was corrupting his mind and leading him down a dark path he was never fixed, which could’ve been shown from the help of Will and 11 all they did on Netflix is show the flashbacks of what he had done to the people he affected, but never showed the other side of the story of what made him become like that.
Let’s unite together and call upon Netflix and The Duffer Brothers to remake "The Right Side Up" episode to provide a longer episode and a more gratifying ending that aligns with the expectations and emotions that us die hard Stranger Things fans worldwide deserve. Please sign this petition to help bring this vision to life and give our beloved characters the rightful conclusion they deserve.
