Make Nascar more accessible for aspiring drivers

Make Nascar more accessible for aspiring drivers

The Issue

When I was a baby, my journey with NASCAR began—a thrilling journey that has spanned over 15 incredible years. Throughout this journey, one driver stood out to me: Kyle Busch. With immense admiration, I collected a photo of us together when I was just four, along with some cherished autographed memorabilia. To my great sorrow, I learned of Kyle's passing today. Although I didn't know him personally, his passing has profoundly impacted me.

In the wake of this tragic loss, I find myself reflecting on my dream of becoming a NASCAR driver. Kyle's spirit lives on within me, inspiring me to pursue this dream despite my initial hesitation. However, the path to becoming a NASCAR driver is steep and challenging, particularly for those without immediate resources or opportunities. It's a path that needs to be more accessible for aspiring drivers like myself and countless others who share this passion.

The magic of NASCAR is undoubtedly bolstered by its dedicated fan base, which brings together enthusiasts from all walks of life. Yet, the passion to transition from being a fan to becoming a driver encounters numerous barriers, including the substantial costs, the need for specialized training, and limited accessibility to resources and opportunity.

For NASCAR to continue its legacy of being an inclusive sport, more programs need to be implemented that provide young enthusiasts with the necessary tools and training to advance. Initiatives like accessible driving academies, scholarship programs for underprivileged aspirants, and outreach initiatives can help bridge this gap.

Kyle Busch's passionate drive and dedication to the sport inspired not just me, but countless individuals worldwide. Allowing people who are driven to keep his spirit alive by chasing their dreams will honor his legacy in the most profound way. We need NASCAR to open more doors and create paths for the dreamers.

I urge NASCAR to look at actionable steps towards making the dream of being a NASCAR driver more attainable for everyone. This change is not just crucial but necessary to cultivate the next generation of drivers. Please support this move to make NASCAR a more inclusive sport.
