I have created this petition to make the Government aware that the current lack of funding, specifically for Dementia and Alzheimers patients is abysmal.

We have witnessed too many times the unfortunate circumstances, where a service user with Dementia/Alzheimers has been offered little to no funding for the care and support they need, during this stage in life.

These individuals are having no choice, but to use their own savings, which they have worked for their entire lives. Additionally, many services users are having to sell their houses, just to pay for their care.

The lack of funding is also putting huge strains on families, who are not only watching their loved ones disappear, but are also under immeasurable stress to chase any funding the service user may recieve, which is usually very little. 

This topic is extremely important to myself, as my Grandad has been diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimers, and it is heartbreaking, not only watching such an amazing, strong man fade away, but also to see everything he has worked for his whole life, being drained into the system.

This is a genuine physical illness, so why should the funding be any different?

Government, please consider that funding for these service users NEEDS to be increased, or the rules need to be changed regarding allowable savings, before the service user is eligible for more funding.
