Make Meningococcal B FREE in NSW. Save our Kids!
The issue
My name is Stacey-Anne, and my son Brayden was a vibrant 23-year-old, full of life and dreams until Meningococcal B cut his life short in a matter of hours.
On November 17, 2022, Brayden came home from a game of touch footy, feeling slightly unwell. By the next evening, he was brain-dead. I don't want any other family to go through this unimaginable pain. I am calling on the New South Wales Government to fund the Meningococcal B vaccine.
South Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria, Queensland and soon Tasmania have already taken the crucial step of funding this life-saving vaccine, but New South Wales lags behind. It's encouraging to see all these other states making change, but when's it going to be our turn? My message for NSW is simple: Get on board, save our kids lives and just come in line with the rest of Australia.
Since Brayden's death our state has seen 109 cases, causing death and disability. 2025 saw NSW with the most cases nationally. So why are we not protected like other states?
Brayden thought he was protected; he had received the Meningococcal ACWY vaccine like many others. But what we didn't know was that this vaccine does not cover the deadly Meningococcal B type - which is more than 80% of cases. We cannot let this severe oversight continue.
In collaboration with the Meningitis Centre Australia, I have launched the "B the Change for Brayden" campaign. We are demanding that the New South Wales Government include the Meningococcal B vaccine in the state's immunisation program. Parents have a right to believe that when their child is vaccinated, they are protected against all strains of this deadly disease.
Let's honour Brayden's memory by ensuring that no other family has to endure this kind of loss. We can 'B the Change for Brayden'. Please sign and share my campaign - your signatures will help save kids' lives!
