Make Maricopa, AZ the Temporary Westbound Terminus for Amtrak's Texas Eagle

Make Maricopa, AZ the Temporary Westbound Terminus for Amtrak's Texas Eagle
The Issue
In 1996, the city of Maricopa in Pinal county Arizona opened its doors to an Amtrak station. This was a momentous occasion for our community and since then, we have been proud to be a part of the Amtrak network. However, we believe that our city can play an even more significant role in this network. After Leaving Yuma Arizona the Texas Eagle will go west following Interstate 8 to Imperial Valley in El Centro California before terminating in San Diego
the locals of Maricopa also want to avoid the possibility of earthquakes between Yuma and Los Angeles as well as slash travel time
We are calling on Amtrak to make Maricopa the temporary westbound terminus for their Texas Eagle service. The Texas Eagle currently runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, but we believe that ending this service in San Diego instead would provide numerous benefits not only for our community but also for passengers.
Maricopa is strategically located between Phoenix and Tucson - two major cities with large populations. By making it a terminus station, more people could potentially use this service as it would become more accessible and convenient (Source: U.S Census Bureau). Furthermore, it would boost local tourism as visitors will have easier access to explore what our beautiful city has to offer.
This change is personal because it represents growth and progress not just for us but also for future generations who will call Maricopa home. We urge you all - residents of Maricopa or friends from afar - to support us in making this vision come true by signing this petition today!
