HELP SUPPORT US PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND KOALAS IN LIVERPOOL LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Liverpool is recognised as supporting a growing koala population predominantly along the Georges River, with research indicating the population has increased four-fold mainly due to good environmental conditions producing the vegetation koalas need for a healthy habitat.

Council has an important role and responsibility in providing better protection and conservation of the environment and our precious koala population.

In 2019 the State Government enacted the State Environment Planning Policy (Koala Protection), the policy is aimed to address the declining numbers of koalas in our state and encourage the conservation and preservation of areas where natural vegetation provides a habitat for koalas.

Councils can do this by developing and adopting a Koala Management Plan.

Liverpool Council does not have one.
