Hi everyone,

I’m putting together a letter to Sarratt Parish Council asking them to review what happened at Sarratt KGV playground and to consider whether urgent safety measures are needed.

My son was hit on the head by the seesaw, causing a 2cm cut and requiring us to go straight to A&E, where his head had to be glued.

My main concern is the way the seesaw can swing around and the fact that it is at the perfect height to hit a child in the face, eye, neck or head. A child playing nearby could potentially be struck without even being involved in using the seesaw.

I personally witnessed another child being hit by the same seesaw just minutes before my son was injured, and I have seen this happen on numerous occasions.

I will be asking Sarratt Parish Council to carry out an urgent safety review of the seesaw and surrounding area, and to consider whether changes are needed to prevent another child from being hurt — preferably removing the seesaw altogether.
