My name is Jane Reynolds.
I am contacting you for your help, my niece lost her life to the River Ouse in the last week's, I am campaigning and have a change.org petition online for more CCTV to be installed as the police are unable to tell us what happened to my niece Leah Bedford. They where able to see Leah at the edge of the river but not what happened to her. We will never get the answers we need as a family. As you can imagine this is a traumatic and sad time as a family, however more needs to be done by the council to install more and better CCTV, having no money and costs just isn't good enough anymore. Too many life's have been lost by the rivers of York, especially children. When we where looking for Leah the amount of teenagers down by the river in the dark with no lighting sat at the edge was horrifying. We need to make a stand, and I will not stop until we are heard and made a difference.
Not only that but in the name of Leah I want more to be done for mental health in children. Leah had nowhere to go, most children her age turn to drink or drugs and end up in our rivers.
Our story has only just begun. My campaign is Justice for Leah.
I have already spoke to radio stations I am talking to BBC radio Tuesday 10th October I will also be emailing York city council and talking to news outlets. I need as many voices as possible to speak up and help our family get justice. And also to stop this happening to more children and their parents.
Thank you for reading
