Bruno a Labrador pet dog was killed brutally by three people in Kerala. They were arrested and later released on bail.
The Kerala High Court has paid a tribute to Bruno and registered a suo moto case in his name to examine the legislative and executive inaction of the state govt in the matter of protection of animal rights.

Thank God for the Indian judiciary.
Vandana Jain who runs a public campaign called Dogitization to create awareness about everything related with dogs started her campaign in the year 2016. This journey of her's started on her birthday. So on that day Instead of going to the temple she chose to go to the office of the mayor.
It is the municipal corporation who is responsible for running the ABC program for stray dogs. Due to the cleanliness drive which is being run pan India by all the corporation's all the garbage bins are being kept absolutely clean without leaving any leftover food or eatables in and around the bin. These leftovers used to be the food for street animals but after the cleanliness drive started the street animals are roaming hungry. Anyhow Vandana pleaded the Mayor to make food arrangement for the dogs near the bins and to do public awareness for giving food and water to the dogs residing near their homes and offices. The Mayor very bluntly refused to do anything. She said that the corporation has better things to do than to create awareness for the dogs. Vandana was literally snubbed by both the Mayor and her secretary. To read about Vandana's story in her own words kindly go on the link below:

Well! The good outcome of that meeting was that Dogitization happened. In the last four and a half years Vandana has created huge awareness pan India about dogs, their behaviour, Dog rules (ABC program) and dog laws.
About a few days ago she met the Indore Municipal Commissioner and told her to take various steps which can make the life of stray dogs better. Well this time Vandana was heard seriously and the commissioner felt that the issue requires corporation's serious involvement.
If the municipal corporations had created right awareness and had an empathetic approach towards dogs then life would have been so much better for both the dogs as well as humans.
The recent guidelines on stray dogs given by Justice Medha of the Delhi High Court is like a victory for many people like Vandana who have sacrificed their personal and professional life to make the life of their furry friends better. The guidelines clearly mentions that the corporation make arrangement for food for dogs who stay in non residential areas or are not being fed by people. The guidelines further ask the AWBI to to create awareness about animals.
Some of the points which require urgent public awareness across India are:
1 Dog rules (ABC program)
2 Indian breed dog is not rabid and is as good as a foreign breed dog, hence they should be adopted
3 Dogs do not bite without provocation and a bite by a healthy dog does not lead to rabies
4 Canine rabies can be eradicated by getting the dogs vaccinated
5 Killing and beating dogs is a punishable offence
To create awareness the Govt may take services of celebrities like John Abraham, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ratan Tata.......
I am sure these people will not take a penny to become the ambassadors for our Indian dogs.
Let's hope and pray the guidelines do not remain in the files and they are implemented with full honestly and integrity.
This is one final chance for the Municipal Corporations, their respective mayors, Councillors and commissioners to show to the world that they too care for the man's best friend. India is not after all a cruel and heartless country.
