Gulmohar city in Dera Bassi in Mohali, Punjab is yet again in news for dog cruelty. These people seem to be at war with the dogs in their area and their caregivers. It seems these people have nothing better to do than to find new ways and means to trouble the dogs and their caregivers. In the month of July this year the place was in news for manhandling an animal welfare officer Indra Sandhu when he had gone to  investigate dog cruelty cases which were reported to him. Kindky go on the following link to read about this incident:

Now that these people know that the law does not permit them to relocate dogs or to kill them or to stop anybody from feeding them so now they  have come with another inhuman and barbaric solution.

They have put barbed wires on the benches so that the caregivers who feed them do not sit on the benches (pic in the post).

The reporter has said that the society people have put barbed wires around the benches to restrict caregivers from sitting on them but I suspect that it has been put to stop the dogs from climbing and sitting on the benches. Just imagine what would happen when these dogs will try to sit on the bench? The reporter further says that  the  people in the area walk with thick sticks in their hand which they use on dogs to scare them away.

What's wrong with we human beings? How selfish and cruel have we become?

The natives of Punjab have always been known for their bravery, courage and valour. And we Indians have always been so proud of them. But unfortunately the people of Gulmohar city have shamed the people of Punjab.

It is time the municipal corporations not only implement the ABC prograame at a rapid pace but also involve people in getting the dogs sterilized and immunized. The people have to be told that these are the Indian breed dogs who are neither rabid nor of inferior quality. Unfortunately People lack right information about dogs and their behaviour.
