On Saturday the residents of Gulmohar City Society in Derabassi in Punjab took out a procession against the stray dogs residing in their colony.
An animal welfare officer Indra Sandhu went to the society as he wanted to investigate himself if the cruelty cases against dogs being reported from this society are true or not.
Well, to his shock the society people not only physically assaulted him but also held him hostage. They threatened to kill him. Imagine one man against so many residents. The animal welfare officer Indra Sandhu is a brave man who not only fought against a mob singlehandedly but also saw to it the goons are punished for their crime.. Wish India had such animal welfare officers in all the states of India. Then probably the man's best friend and his caregiver would have been happier and safer.
Another good thing which happened in this case is, that the police was prompt in action and surprisingly did not side with the perpetrators. It booked 50 people of the society against various sections. Such as physically assaulting the officer, holding him hostage, threatening to kill him, not letting him perform his duty, violating guidelines of covid 19 etc....
All these people are now out on bail and the police will do further investigation on the basis of the CCTV footage which it has taken in its custody. Kindly go on the following link to read about the case:

According to these ill-informed and uncivilised residents they were doing the procession to find a solution for stray dogs. Now what solution do they want? Well, the only solution these barbarians want is removal of dogs.
Till now the dog hater residents in India were complaining of dog bites, dog barking, dog chasing, dog littering etc. But the people of Gulmohar City society have gone a step further.
They say that the dogs sit on their cars. It's true that few dogs love to climb up and sit on the bonnet or the roof of the car but is that such a big crime? For which they had to take out a procession and try to find a solution. One can just sprinkle some water on them whenever they sit on it. Dogs are much smarter than humans. If they are told something, they obey. One need not pour a jug of water on them but just few drops of water will do the trick and they will not sit on the car.
There are many caregivers and other people who just don't mind their four legged friends sitting on their cars. Yes they do leave few scratch marks but that doesn't bother them.
Unfortunately the people of Gulmohar City Society are too materialistic and small hearted as their love for their own creation (car) is much more than the creation of God (dog).
No wonder Covid 19 has attacked man. The most selfish and greedy being on this planet.
