It was a pleasant surprise to watch the Member of Parliament from the New Delhi Constituency Meenakshi Lekhi feeding a stray dog that too with so much compassion. This is indeed a rear view (pic in the post). Feeding stray in India is not considered respectable. People often ridicule the feeders and find the whole exercise quite demeaning. People who feed not only face criticism and opposition but also face social stigma.
Only the brave and the kind hearted people dare to feed the stray dogs of India. Mrs Lekhi is definitely one of them. She is not only a parliamentarian but is also the national spokesperson of BJP. Apart from being a politician she is also a practicing Supreme Court Lawyer. Her remarkable gesture of feeding a stray will definitely be followed by many. She has set an example for others to follow. Especially for those educated lot of India who think that feeding stray is beneath their dignity and status. Who consider the Indian dog inferior, rabid and dirty.

Another young and dynamic Member of Parliament Anubhav Mohanty from Odisha has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking action against the practice of encouraging and rewarding the killing of wild animals declared as 'vermin killing in India'. The hearing has started and the court has asked for the causes and remedies for the man - animal conflict.

Mrs Lekhi and Mr Mohanty are few parliamentarians who give strength and courage to millions of animal lovers of India who fight almost on a daily basis to protect and preserve their voiceless companions who have equal right to live and thrive as we do in this beautiful country called India.
