Few days back it was reported that the RWA of Greenwoods society in Greater Noida mentally and emotionally harassed the caregiver so much that she was forced to evict the place. Last year a dog brownie was poisoned and a case was registered but till date no action has been taken against them.
Well, it seems they are powerful and influential people who have good contacts with the administration and definitely no fear of law.
Is this independent India? Prior to1947 we were ruled by the British and our forefathers fought against them to get back our freedom but what are we doing now? Fighting against the powerful Indians who have no respect law. I guess we were better off in the British era at least people feared law. In spite of the dog law which says that dogs cannot be relocated, killed or abused they are constantly being killed and relocated. The law says that the caregiver is protected by law but in reality they are being harassed, abused, physically assaulted and even killed.
It has been reported that the caregiver and volunteers who want to take care of the dogs in Greenwoods Society are not allowed to feed the dogs. The caregiver it seems has received a notice of defamation. Defame whom? Is telling the truth defamation. Wish these people had mended their ways instead of taking up legal battles.
The caregiver has unfortunately not received any help from anywhere. She is still trying helplessly to punish these people and help her furry friends who are probably starving to death. After trying everything possible she has ultimately started a petition which is addressed to 15 decision makers, including the Prime Minister of India and the UP Chief Minister. The link of the petition is given below:
The dog problem is no longer confined to a few state, it seems to have become a national problem.
In my knowledge there is not a single state of India which can proudly say that it is free from any kind of dog cruelty. That there is no man-man conflict and no man- dog conflict. Hence, Prime Minister's intervention is a must. The ABC programme is not being run in the way it should have run. There are a lot of loopholes in the way it is being run by the corporations all over India including Delhi. And unless that is addressed properly this problem will continue and rather aggravate in the near future.
A strategy has to be framed at the national level and the programme has to be implemented simultaneously in all the states. Until that is done people will keep fighting with each other and the poor dogs will keep dying a death which they just don't deserve.
The current problem is entirely man made and is the result of poor governance.
