On 31st May 2020 Sneha Singh  (M - 9999151328) a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase 2, Pocket E sent six siblings for Sterilization in her own car ( Pic in the post). After 5 to 6 days she will go back again to pick up the dogs in her car. This is just amazing because Indians generally hesitate to touch the street dogs. They consider them dirty and filthy. For Sterilization they call the municipal corporation or the NGO van to pick up the dogs. Seldom caregivers use their own cars to pick and drop the dogs to the Sterilization centres. Also what was good about this was the puppies were saved from the tormenting experience of being caught by a catcher which the MCD and the NGO people use to catch the dogs for Sterilization.

The pups were born around seven months back and ever since Sneha has been taking care of them. She got 9 in 1 vaccination done for them so that the pups don't die of life threatening diseases like parvo and distemper. When they were three months old she got rabies vaccination done for them. No municipality and no govt asked Sneha to get the puppies vaccinated.

She got them vaccinated because she wanted them alive, healthy and happy in front of her eyes. The RWA as well the residents of her colony are quite hostile towards stray dogs and Sneha too has had her share of altercations and verbal fights but all that has never stopped her from taking care of the little angels in her life.

Sneha takes care of around 15 dogs in her own colony and around 20 in Ansal Plaza, Vaishali, Ghaziabad.

Such caregivers need a salute. They are the unsung heroes who do not boast about their contribution to the society.

But the worse is that their own neighbours and RWA do not value their services. It's not easy to feed and take care of medical problems including Sterilization and vaccination of 35 dogs but Sneha has been doing it. She is not expecting any material reward but yes she does expect the people in het locality especially the RWA to show compassion and respect to her furry freinds.  This is the story of almost all the caregivers in India

In absolute contrast to Sneha is a pet owner living in Mandawali (East Delhi) who had kept his own dog in the most inhuman condition. Tied with a one metre iron chain to the gate. He used to beat the dog and keep him outside in harsh weather conditions. He treated the dog worse than a slave. It was Indie dog commune an animal welfare NGO which intervened and rescued the dog with the help and support of the police and the dog lovers of the colony. The dog has been sent to Rudransh animal shelter where he is undergoing treatment. For full report kindly go on the link below:

As per prevention of cruelty to animals act the owners cannot ill-treat or torture their pets but in India due to COVID 19 the owners have recently abandoned their pets, to let them die on the streets.  They did it without any fear of law. They never loved their dogs but the worse is they didn't even fear law.
