The Dogitization team led by Vandana Jain has come yet again with another innovative idea for it's Laddoos (they call their dogs laddoo which is a very famous and delicious sweet of India). They have made provisions for Summers for their four legged friends which is fast approaching in India.
Water is something which every living organism requires. But rarely people think about the street animals especially dogs.
February end marks the beginning of summer season and it will reach its peak in May and June. Well in India only four months ( November, December, January and February) are cold that too in Northern part of India. South of India is quite warm all the year round . This means that water is much in demand during summers as one feels quite thirsty.
So to quench thirst the Dogitization team has got 500 cemented pots which will be installed in every streets of Indore zone wise.
The pots have been donated by the Gandhi family who run Methodex company. About 15 days back the Dogitization team had contacted Kalpak Gandhi and told him that they require water pots for the stray dogs of Indore. Instantly Mr. Gandhi agreed to donate 500 pots free of cost and promised to donate more in future. He was at that time in Mumbai hospital where the whole family is getting their family head treated for an ailment. The family doesn't want any money in return for the pots but they do want everyone's prayers and good wishes for quick recovery of their ailing head of the family.
Well, it is not only the dog lovers who shall pray for their family head but also the Indore Laddoos who are so thankful for this very kind and much needed gesture.
Right now the 500 pots shall be installed in only one zone. This is on an experimental basis. It is to show the world that when a dog's thirst has been quenched then he is not irritated and he will not bite. On the other hand a starving and thirsty dog will definitely get irritated and is likely to bite with least provocation.
Today on 19th February 5 pots have been installed in Indore and that too with the help of the Indore Municipal Corporation. The corporation has also asked the people of that area to fill the pots with water.

They shall also be taking the help of the NGOs to get the pots installed. They are also seeking their help to create awareness about dog behaviour and in asking people to fill the pots with water. Because ultimately it will be the common people of Indore who will be filling the pots with water. The pots will remain dry if people do not fill them with water
Till now PFA, Indore has come forward to install the pots.
The pots will bear the name of the donor and also the municpal corporation of Indore so that people do not remove them, break them or steal them.
The general perception of people in India Is that dogs do not require water. They often break the water pots and during monsoon season they get an excuse of dengue to break the pots. Dengue is a mosquito borne disease. The mosquito survives on stale water therefore one should throw away stale water and should not allow water to accumulate at one place for long durations. People generally make this as an excuse and throw and break the water bowls kept for dogs and other street animals. This is the bitter reality in almost all the cities of India.
The people can easily change water from the pots so that it doesn't become stale but instead of doing that they choose to break the pots or get them removed.
That's the kind of compassion Indians living in urban cities have towards stray animals.

This is the best example of public private partnership in the area of animal welfare.
