A shocking incident took place in a posh apartment Uniworld Garden - 2 in Gurugram ( Delhi NCR).
On Friday evening (6th December) a stray dog entrered the premises of the apartment. One of the security guards of the apartment ran after the dog and kept beating him mercilessly till he was confident that the dog was dead. Then they took his body out of the apartment and buried him outside.
The residents of the same area Simran and Sheila were out on the road and heard the dog crying. They followed the voice which was coming from beneath the earth. They quickly dug the mud and got the dog out. The dog was almost dead.
The two ladies immediately took the dog to the nearby vet hospital (CGS hospital, DLF Phase 3) where the dog was admitted.
On examination it was found that the dog's legs and head have got fractured. His mouth and intestine are badly injured.
He is on oxygen as he can barely breathe. His condition is critical and the chances of his surviving is quite dim. And even if he survives will it be worth living?
On Saturday afternoon the animal lovers of that area got together and lodged an FIR against the guard and all those people responsible for beating the dog at the Sadar Police station (Gurugram).
The police has started the investigation but no arrests have been made yet.
They have tried contacting the RWA president of the apartment but he is unavailable. He is not picking up calls. Why isn't he picking up the calls? Is he guilty?
The CCTV camera installed in the apartment has the entire incident captured on it.
The guard beating the dog with stick and then two men carrying the half dead body of the dog out of the apartment.
A security guard is just an employee. He will always follow the orders of his employers who happen to be the RWA members.
Although it was the security guard who had beaten the dog but who actually is responsible for his death?
The RWAs in Delhi and the NCR are mostly responsible for dog cruelty, relocation and killing.
It's high time the municipal corporations of every state send circulars to every RWA not to indulge in any kind of crime against dogs. The councillors, commissioners and chief ministers of every state of India should inform their residents about dog laws and ask them not to take law into their hands.
The poor dog was just trying to enter the premises. May be he was hungry or may be he was looking for a garden where he could dig the mud and sit cosily in it.
Unfortunately cities like Delhi and Gurugram are all cemented and during winters dogs look for warmth. They are often seen in mud which in cities are found only in parks. They dig the mud and sit in it. During winters the mud stays warm and during summers the same mud stays cool. So the favourite place for stray dogs are the green area in cities.
There are very few people in cities who put blankets or sacks for the stray dogs on cemented floors.
Living in cities is a curse for the man's best friend. Many die of pneumonia and cold during winters.
This one died of cruelty. The poor thing was just looking for some warmth, food and a bit of empathy.
Sadly the RWA and the security guard had none of these. They only had injuries, bruises and pain to give to this unfortunate soul.
