This is how change.org's 'local', 'national' and 'global' settings should work!

This is how change.org's 'local', 'national' and 'global' settings should work!

Local scope:

If a petition's scope it set to Local, strict postcode geofencing applies during active promotion. For example if the location is set to Birmingham, UK, the petition should only be showed to users in Birmingham.

National scope:

If a petition's scope is set to 'National', the user should have the option to choose a specific country when the petition's page is set up. If you set the scope to 'National' and select Germany, regardless of your physical location the petition should only be shown to users during active promotion.

Global scope:

If a petition's scope is set to Global during active promotion, there should be no restrictions on who sees the petition during active promotion and should be automatically shown to users anywhere in the world logged in at the time.

Of course, these new proposed rules only apply during active promotion, anyone can share the petition on social media feeds so under my new system, petitions set to Local or National can still get signatures from overseas if shared on social media. Likewise, a user searching for specific causes in the search tab can still sign a petition organically  anywhere in the world regardless of their location or whether the petition is actively being promoted in certain parts of the world.

Mr Easter.
