Make essential asthma medication free
Make essential asthma medication free
The Issue
Asthma spray is a lifeline and an essential part of my daily routine, as it is for millions of people around the world who suffer from asthma. Yet, despite its necessity, the cost of asthma medication is prohibitively expensive for many, putting vital treatment out of reach and endangering lives.
Currently, asthma affects over 262 million people globally, according to the World Health Organization. More locally, in the United States, more than 25 million individuals struggle with asthma, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For these individuals, the need for affordable medication is critical to manage their symptoms and maintain their quality of life.
The financial burden of purchasing asthma medication is substantial especially if its not the only medication in your prescription. the This forces many to choose between their health and other essential needs.
The goal of this petition is to urge government officials and pharmaceutical companies to take immediate action by making asthma medication free or at an exceedingly reduced cost. Such action would ensure equitable access to essential healthcare and significantly improve the well-being of those affected by asthma.
More affordable access to asthma medication would not only save lives but also decrease emergency healthcare visits and lower overall healthcare costs, as asthma-related complications would be better managed.
I call upon policymakers, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies to recognize the essential nature of asthma medication and take the necessary steps to alleviate this burden. Please join me in advocating for free asthma medication by signing this petition.
