The past couple days seem pretty eventful in U.S. politics and it could be a good idea to mention it here and some of my thoughts on it. The longest government shutdown has ended after 43 days. The previous record holder was during Trump's first term from December 2018 to January 2019 that lasted 35 days. I don't want to just say it's the democrats' shutdown. I feel like it could be bad leadership on both ends if they aren't willing to negotiate and compromise. Going along with Congress, Representative Adelita Grijalva from Arizona was just sworn in and she was the final signature to force a vote on the release of the Epstein Files. I say I do support the release of the files as it will expose pedophiles. It will guarantee transparency in the federal government. I don't care who could be in it, regardless of any party affiliation or government position, I just make sure any guilty person in them will be held accountable for their actions. I feel like the Epstein files being released should not be a topic of debate, as it will be something to reveal criminals. I've seen a couple of the emails that were already shared. That could be at least something but still not everything
The penny has been discontinued from being minted. I could see the point that it costs more to make a single penny than what one penny is worth and it could help save taxpayer money. Canada has already discontinued their penny. What i saw is that the penny could still be used as legal tender and we could use the pennies that were already made that were in circulation, it's just no new ones will be created. We won't ever be able to use pennies that will be dated 2026 or later.
That's everything I have to share today. I figured that everything I just shared should be shared in an update for this petition. It could be part of informed voting, that what happens in the federal government would help inform our voting in a federal election. Midterms will be next year and everyone across the country will be voting for the U.S. House of representatives and a third of Senators will face election as well.
