This petition is deeply personal to me, and many others who have experienced the heartbreak of discovering that the children they've raised and loved are not their biological offspring. This revelation often leads to broken families, causing immense pain for both parents and children.

We propose a solution - mandatory DNA testing before issuing birth certificates. This would ensure that every man knows with certainty whether he is the biological father of a child at birth, preventing future heartbreaks and maintaining family integrity. It will also help mitigate the rising cases of child swapping in maternity wards by rogue midwives.

According to a study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, approximately 1-2% of all cases show misattributed paternity (Bellis MA et al., 2005). That's thousands of men unknowingly raising children who aren't biologically theirs. In addition women also fall victims to children swapping scams at maternity wards.

By making DNA tests mandatory before issuing birth certificates, we can prevent these situations from occurring. It's time for transparency in parentage from day one.
