Make Corporate Pet Stores Stop Selling Animals in CO

Make Corporate Pet Stores Stop Selling Animals in CO
The Issue
Day after day, we continue to experience firsthand the inhumane conditions that many animals go through in corporate pet stores. We can see birds with severe feather damage and infections, fish with discolorations that swim ever so slowly, and small mammals that require a companion living without one. All of these heartbreaking scenes are a common sight. Many of us have bought numerous animals from these stores to rescue them from these conditions, but the stores simply replenish their "stock," treating these living beings as products.
The issue at hand is not an isolated incident. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that every year, MILLIONS of exotic animals are sold in pet stores across the U.S. alone (Humane Society, 2019). More often than not, these animals are kept in deplorable conditions, deprived of many of their most basic needs. This practice not only endangers the lives of these animals, who are often physically and emotionally malnourished, but also perpetuates the disheartening notion that animals are disposable commodities.
We need to take a stand. Let's hold corporate pet stores accountable. We demand that the sale of live animals - birds, reptiles, fish, and other small critters - be stopped immediately at these premises. No animal deserves to suffer for profit. We are their voices, they need us to speak for them. They are not products to be sold in stores, they are sentient beings that should be respected and loved.
It's time to change the narrative. Join me in taking a stand for these voiceless animals. Sign this petition today, and let's make a difference.
