We're getting there!!

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition - as you know there has been progress!! Brierley Homes issued a statement last month confirming that they will pay IN FULL the commuted sums that are owed to Kirkby Malzeard. There is no doubt that the petition played a significant role in persuading North Yorkshire Council's Executive Members and Brierley Homes to make a U Turn.
However, we need North Yorkshire Council to guarantee that Brierley Homes will honour this commitment, and we need Brierley Homes to withdraw their current application to reduce the number of affordable homes from 13 to 3 houses. This a company owned and controlled by North Yorkshire Council, with the sole purpose being to build enough market housing to generate profit to build affordable ones. The Council requires every housebuilder to build 40% affordable housing, and yet their own company thinks it can apply to reduce this to 15%.
WHAT NEXT?
We need over 500 signatories from people who live, work or study in North Yorkshire. With this we can force the petition to be debated by your County Councillors. Some of you have signed from addresses outside of the County - so please check the address you have used. If you live outside the County but come in to work or study, can you confirm this in a comment on the petition?
Either way, please keep up the good work and share this with more local residents to help get the last few supporters that the petition needs.
