Great progress!!

Great news!! The Managing Director of Brierley Homes, Tony Dodds, issued a statement yesterday that the company "will honour the payment of £131,000 to the parish council and will not be seeking to reduce or remove that payment. We will commit to providing the funds to be spent under the conditions agreed". Feedback from the local community really has worked and thank you to all of you who have signed the petition. 

We still need to keep the pressure on to make sure that Brierley Homes enter into the s106 Agreement (remember, they are in breach of planning at the moment for not entering into this before they started building the homes). Once this commitment is in place, we can feel more confident about the Commuted Sums being paid to the Parish Council - although given the state of Brierley's financial affairs I will be pursuing NYC to guarantee payment.

What is not yet in place is a commitment to build all of the 13 affordable homes that were shown on the planning application. Only 5 have been built so far and the Brierley Homes statement makes it clear that there is a risk no more will be built. 

So great progress has been made but we need to make sure that Brierley Homes and NYC honour their commmitment to the community to build affordable homes, to help local people live in the area. For this reason I will keep the petition running until we have this resolved.
