Hi friends,
Ben again. As we close in on 2,000 signatures in the first week of the campaign, we just want to say a big thanks for your generosity of time, support and advocacy.
Alright, enough from us. Here are just a few examples of why you, the T1 community, are signing this petition (from the public comments):
“Access to AID technology helped me have a healthy pregnancy and supports me to be an active, healthy mum. Every family deserves the same opportunity and quality of life for their loved ones!”
“I’m a T1 and soon I won’t be able to afford to keep my private Heath insurance so I won’t be able to have access to an insulin pump. Insulin pump and CGM reduce the need to be hospitalised”
“My son has type 1 and I believe everyone who has this deserves to have access to medical supplies without costing a fortune. It’s hard enough managing this on a daily basis with the financial stress as well.”
“I have diabetes but am also privileged enough to afford the $200+ a month to keep an insulin pump and CGM running. This has changed my life and my control of my diabetes, which in the long run will help reduce medical costs for the country as I take this preventative care measure. This opportunity should be for everyone, not just those that can afford it.”
“I’m a diabetes educator and know the difference this will make to many of my clients. I have family members with type 1 diabetes who cannot afford an insulin pump.”
“I am both a person living with type 1 diabetes and a health professional specialising in diabetes. I see both the personal and clinical benefits and they are not only life saving but life altering. This technology is a vital piece of equipment which contributes to drastically improved diabetes management and complication risk reduction. Why are we lagging behind the rest of the world?”
“My 6 year old has type 1 diabetes and we run a DIY loop between his CGM and pump. We can afford private health and therefore he has what he needs, I really feel for those who can't afford this essential medical equipment and have life altering disadvantage because of this.”

Sick of talking about the weather at the water cooler? Talk about AID access instead! Here’s a 2-minute video by JDRF UK to help explain AID to your mates. There are many different names for Automated Insulin Delivery. This video uses artificial pancreas and Hybrid-Closed Loop. At the end of the day, it’s all AID!
Forward this email to your friends, family, diabetes clinic, favourite café, local pub or workplace. And next time you’re at the office water cooler tell them what AID means to you.
All the best!
