Hi Super Supporters!
Last week I met with decision maker Tesco. I went to their head office in Welwyn Garden City to deliver the petition and meet their representatives to talk about the campaign and how they can and need to bring about change.
In May 2018 the campaign took focused action on Tesco, which led to the supermarket making eco-friendly tampons, pads and reusable cups available in stores nationwide.
In the meeting I spoke to them about the unnecessary plastic content in their own-brand products, the avoidable impacts and why they need to make change happen.
I raised concerns, asked questions and suggested ways that they could make a positive difference by removing plastic from their products. Their representatives were happy to hear about the campaign, listened to what I had to say and took my suggestions and concerns seriously. They openly discussed changes they are looking to make, which I can’t share at this time.
Something that I have been speaking to all menstrual product manufacturers about is including the do-not-flush logo on individual items inside packaging. Although it is on the outside of packaging, it is not visible at the true point of disposal. This is something that I’m pleased to say Tesco has done on their pads, tampons and pantyliners, which is a good step to further discourage individuals from wrongly flushing them down toilets.
They have committed to an open dialogue and will keep me informed when changes take place and I will of course keep you updated when this happens.
There is so much happening with the campaign right now behind the scenes and more changes will be happening within the next couple of months, which is really exciting!
Thank you for all your continued support!
