Make 28 June World Wangwang & Victims of Animal Torture Remembrance Day
We are calling for 28 June to become an international day of remembrance for Wangwang, her puppies, and animals everywhere who have suffered deliberate torture and cruelty.
Why Wangwang?
Wangwang was a young stray mother dog caring for her tiny puppies.
On 28 June, Wangwang was brutally murdered while her suffering was livestreamed for online content. Her story reached people around the world and awakened many to the horrifying reality of animals being subjected to extreme cruelty for content.
But this petition is not only about one dog.
Wangwang represents millions of animals whose suffering continues to be ignored, including cats, kittens and other vulnerable animals subjected to torture and cruelty for online content.
Her death should not simply be remembered for the horror of what happened to her. We want her life to become a symbol of the fight to protect vulnerable animals and to challenge the normalisation of cruelty.
Why 28 June?
We want 28 June to become an annual day to remember Wangwang, her puppies and all victims of animal torture and deliberate cruelty.
It would provide an opportunity to:
• Remember the victims whose lives mattered.
• Raise global awareness of deliberate animal cruelty and the exploitation of animals for online content.
• Honour rescuers, advocates and witnesses who continue to speak up.
• Promote compassion, education and stronger animal protection.
• Encourage peaceful action and meaningful change.
• Turn grief and remembrance into action.

Millions of animals experience cruelty, but many victims are forgotten as soon as the images disappear from our screens.
