We love our community school of choice, Inez Elementary in Albuquerque, NM. We want district leadership to maintain our current bell schedule (8:05 a.m. - 3:35 p.m.) for the 2024-2025 school year for these reasons:

• Inez doesn’t use ANY buses for ANY student, which is the reason for the district-mandated change in the first place. Inez will not have ANY buses for ANY students in the 2024-2025 school year, either. Buses that we don't and won't use should NOT dictate our bell schedule. 
• It is better for families financially as they won’t have to pay for both before and after care.
• It is what the staff and parents want, which will keep our community intact. 
• Young children learn best in the morning, so our current schedule will better meet our children's emotional, academic, and mental health needs. 
• Our bell schedule has changed every year for the past 3 years. We do not need another one mandated by the district. 
• We are a community school and as such, we should be allowed the autonomy to make this decision, especially since our school doesn't require district bus transportation.  

We urge the school board and district leadership to change our bell schedule to meet the needs of the families and staff at Inez Elementary. The well-being of our students should always be paramount in these considerations.
