Maintain KickStart Kids As a P.E. Credit in LCISD
The Issue
My child is a participant in the KickStart Kids program in LCISD. Through this program, we have experienced firsthand the life-changing impact on his motivation, confidence, and overall behavior both at home and at school. In just one year, I have witnessed a remarkable and positive transformation in him on so many levels, made possible through the values taught at KickStart Kids.
KickStart Kids is more than just a physical education program; it's a character-building platform. It has been imparting valuable lessons of respect - for oneself and for others. This program is empowering students in LCISD and building future leaders.
This amazing program is now at risk, and we cannot let this happen.
Maintaining KickStart Kids as a P.E. credit in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) is fundamental and helps maintain a safer school community. For more than 25 years, KickStart Kids has been positively impacting lives. According to their reports, 90% of KSK participants have credited the program for helping them reject dangerous substances, and 92% acknowledge the essence of respect and discipline in their life because of KickStart Kids (source: KSK Annual Reports).
LCISD students involved in KickStart Kids reported last year, 98% agreed some aspect of the Kickstart Kids program had a positive impact on their personal development, and at least 79% reported the program had a big impact.
The loss of this program as a P.E. credit is a tremendous setback not only for my child but for all students in the district who see value in the program now, or may in the future. Therefore, we call on the decision-makers at LCISD to recognize the beneficial impacts of KickStart Kids and to maintain its status as a credited P.E. program by updating the DOI language.
Your support can make a difference in the life of a child and continue the legacy of positive change in our community. Please sign this petition and support keep KickStart Kids as a P.E. credit in LCISD.
