Maintain Funding for Dementia Services in Southend

The Issue

My father, like many others in our community of Southend-on-Sea, suffers from dementia. His life has been greatly improved by the services provided by our local council-funded organisation. These services have become a lifeline not only for him but also for countless other families who are navigating the challenges of dementia.

These services include art classes, choirs and snooker clubs. They have been fantastic for improving the wellbeing of my father and my mother who is his full time caregiver.

However, these essential services are now under threat due to potential funding cuts. It is crucial to understand that around 850,000 people in the UK live with dementia (Alzheimer's Society), and this number is expected to rise over the coming years. In Southend alone, thousands of families depend on these vital resources.

Cutting funding to these services would mean stripping away support from those who need it most - our loved ones battling dementia and their caregivers who rely heavily on this assistance. We cannot let this happen.

We urge you to recognise the importance of maintaining funding for dementia services in Southend-on-Sea and take immediate action against any proposed cuts. Please sign this petition today and help us ensure that individuals like my father continue receiving the care they deserve.
