Maintain Ecotourism in La Mesa Nature Reserve Under New Management

The Issue

The ABSCBN Foundation, which has been managing the La Mesa Nature Reserve (LMNR) until February 15, 2024, has played a crucial role in promoting ecotourism. This initiative not only generates funds for the preservation of LMNR but also raises awareness about the importance of this last nature reserve forest in Metro Manila. With the upcoming change in management, there is a risk that this vital initiative may be discontinued. We must ensure that ecotourism remains a priority under the new management to continue supporting LMNR's conservation efforts and educating visitors about its ecological significance.

The LMNR is home to over 1,800 plant species and numerous wildlife species (source: Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation). Its unique biodiversity makes it an essential part of our natural heritage and a critical habitat for many endangered species.

We call upon all concerned citizens to join us in urging the new management to uphold and continue with ecotourism initiatives at LMNR. Your signature can make a difference by showing support for sustainable tourism practices that benefit both our environment and future generations. Please sign this petition today!

Most recognize LMNR as the lungs and the last refuge of nature in the metro.  Please help us save LMNR ecotourism for future generations.
