As a parent deeply invested in my child's education and cultural heritage, I am reaching out to the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) with an urgent request. The recent decision to move Arabic language classes from Saturday mornings to Friday evenings has created significant challenges for many families, including mine, across the Niagara region. It is critical that we address this scheduling issue to ensure that our children continue to have access to quality language education without the hindrance of logistical conflicts.

Friday evenings are a time when many families are either concluding their work week, involved in important community activities, or engaged in religious observances. This change disrupts our established routines and makes it exceedingly difficult for our children to attend the classes they cherish and benefit from. Furthermore, weekend mornings provide a more relaxed time where children are fresh, attentive, and more engaged in learning. This is a sentiment shared by numerous other parents who face similar hurdles with the new schedule.

Arabic classes are not just about learning a language; they are a vital component of preserving cultural ties and fostering deeper connections within our community. Many of us have moved to this region with the hope that our children will grow up appreciating their linguistic heritage while also thriving in their Canadian environment.
