Our daughter was recently hit by a car on Newman Drive whilst walking home from school with her friends, it's a phone call no parent should have to receive and an accident no child should have to witness. If you live on the other side of Newman Drive there really is no safe way for the kids to cross the road to get to the shops. It's also a nightmare at this time of the day for cars to navigate through kids trying to cross the road.

We would like to see safety measures put in place to keep our kids safe either by having someone there to stop the cars ie traffic warden, a cross walk with lights, school zone speed reduction.

Personally we would like to have the push button crosswalk lights installed on Newman Drive as they could be used all day, especially when all of the cars come and go from BHP in the morning and evening.

We really need to do something to keep everyone safe in our community.
