Sorry its been a minute since our last update. We took it hard when the judge favored the township and fined us $25 a day since the day we started our happy place. To the tune of almost $20,000 with the fine and lawyer fees. They also made us take down the ramp roof which was a tarp thus now ruining our wooden halfpipe the very first ramp put here. A ramp my brother helped build and he is no longer with us to even help rebuild it. Too many structures they said to us because anything with a roof is a structure ... well in 2008 I have a picture from the tax assessment office for carbon county showing 5 structures. We bought the house in 2010 and there were still 5 structures. They made us take down something that was here before we bought it. The craziness of all this is to this day the code enforcer still can not tell me what specific codes were broken so we could fix things he just says we have to zone commercial . We do not want to zone commercial why should we have to. I skate for fun.. Its my recreational sport.... Its My backyard... I'm not hurting anyone.... In fact my nonprofit trys and helps kids in the community but with skateboarding banned in Jim Thorpe and no where to go in Lehighton or anywhere close what are kids supposed to do what am I supposed to do. I own my home I pay my taxes why should I not be aloud to do what I want in my yard I mean within reason. I didnt know doing sport activities was pushing it. They literally said to us a backyard skateboard compound park is not permitted in an r3 medium density zone. To that we said 1. We Are Hardly A Compound. We have 1 acre of land and 3 people who reside here. There so called compound consists of a house a garage and a tree house I guess most of the town has compounds then. My wife thought it would be a good idea to use that word against them in an attempt to fundraise some money towards paying our fine to keep the Jungle alive. So for $2 you send to help the jumgle you will get. A "We Are Not A Compound" vinyl sticker. We have a ton of different colors to choose from. I have put down our venmo pay information as well. I can mail them out for $0.50. Thanks for everyone who signed and shared this petition. I hope this spark will help get us back on track to finishing this place because like I said we may be down but were not out yet. The wife and I have a few wild cards to throw yet and have been saving for such an occasion. Thatnks for supporting the Jungle and keep shredding.
